GENERAL INFORMATION

Location – Coeur d’Alene, Idaho
The Lithography Workshop will hold its 2009 meeting at the Coeur d’Alene Resort, in the city of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Coeur d’Alene is located approximately 30 miles east of the Spokane International Airport in the Coeur d’Alene Mountains, a segment of the Northern Rocky Mountains, in northern Idaho. The mountains extend in roughly triangular form south for about 60 miles (100 km) along the Montana border from Pend Oreille Lake to St. Joe River. The highest peaks (6,000–7,000 feet [1,800–2,100 meters]) are in the east; most of the western range is a high plateau cut by narrow canyons and river valleys.

The Coeur d’Alene Resort sits adjacent to Lake Coeur d'Alene which is 30 miles long, ranges from 1 to 3 miles wide and offers over 109 miles of shoreline for boaters and vacationers to explore and enjoy. The lake is fed by the Coeur d'Alene, St. Joe and St. Maries rivers which provide boaters the opportunity to explore and anglers the opportunity to sit back and enjoy the fish (from Chinook salmon to trout and Northern Pike). The outflow is via the Spokane River. The elevation of the lake is 2,125 feet (648 m) above sea level.

The Coeur d’Alene Resort is a full service, luxury resort. The resort has been named “America’s best Mainland Resort” by the Conde Nest Traveler.  “Golf Digest” Magazine has named it as “America’s most beautiful resort golf course” and is the home of the world’s only floating golf-green. Along with the golf center and tennis courts are several fine dining restaurants and specialty shops and boutiques either on the premises or within walking distance of the resort. Within the Resort is the new Spa, recently named the Most Romantic Spa in the World by MSNBC. During the summer, there are many lake and mountain activities available, including hiking, mountain biking, white water rafting, kayaking and canoe trips and fly fishing.

The July 4th holiday will fall on the weekend after the Workshop. We have arranged with the Resort to honor the conference rates for 3 days before and after the meeting, allowing attendees to enjoy the resort during this holiday. The Resort is known to sponsor a spectacular fireworks display to celebrate the holiday. Attendees can arrive at the Resort as early as June 25th, and depart as late as July 7th.

The climate in Coeur d’Alene during June/July is mostly sunny with modest rainfall. The temperatures typically range from 70oF F (evening) to 85o F (daytime).

Getting There and Around
The major airport for Coeur d’Alene is the Spokane International Airport. This airport is served by a large number of airlines including Alaska, Delta, Frontier, Horizon, Northwest, Southwest, United and US Air.  There is a small airport for private planes in the city of Coeur d’Alene.
The Coeur d’Alene Resort is located approximately 30 miles east of the Spokane airport. The Resort provides an airport transfer shuttle service for a round-trip cost of $59.00 per adult and $10.00 per child (11 and under). The arrival and departure service, arranged through the hotel concierge, is recommended. On-site parking is available for $15.00 per day. To request airport transportation, call 1-800-688, ext. 29. The shuttle requires pre-reservations, and recommends you make your reservation 24 hours prior to arrival. Car rental companies are also available at the airport including Avis, Budget, Dollar, National, Hertz, Thrifty, Enterprise and Alamo. The city of Coeur d’Alene has an Enterprise Car Rental Office, and the Resort can assist you with daily rentals for local excursions through the concierge.

Technical Sessions
Technical session chairmen and speakers are included in the listing of the Technical Program. The chairmen have assembled a 2009 Workshop program of highly qualified and renowned technologists from the U.S., Europe, and Asia, representing the latest advancements in the field of nano- and micro-lithography. We will also explore the developments in 3-D architecture and their potential advantages.

Technical sessions will run Monday – Wednesday in the morning through evening, and on Thursday morning. Morning sessions begin at 8 AM, and evening sessions usually end by 10 PM.

- Mon. thru Wed.: 8 AM – 10 PM
- Thurs. July 2: 8 AM – 5 PM.

Poster Program
The Workshop is open to those who wish to present posters. Posters will be displayed on Monday and Tuesday, June 29 and 30. Anyone interested in presenting a poster is encouraged to submit an abstract for consideration.

There will be a number of social activities planned for the guests of attendees when the Workshop is in session. Details of the social program will be made available at the Workshop meeting.

Planning Before and After the Workshop
The $209.00 per room night Coeur d’Alene resort group rate will apply three days prior to and after the room block or June 25 through July 7. Those attending the Workshop may wish to take advantage of the extra days to explore other regions of the area. The room-reservation cut-off date to receive the conference rate is June 10, 2009.
