GENERAL INFORMATION

Location – Rio Grande, Puerto Rico

The Lithography Workshop will hold its 2007 meeting on the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico at the Rio Mar Beach Resort and Spa, a Wyndham Grand Resort, in the town of Rio Grande. Rio Grande is located on the northeastern coastal valley area of the island. The Rio Mar Beach Resort is on the Atlantic Ocean, adjacent to the famous
El Yunque Rain Forest.

The Wyndham Rio Mar Resort, part of the Wyndham Grand Collection of upscale properties, was selected to host the 2007 Workshop. It is a full service, luxury
resort, situated on a mile long sandy beach. The resort has world-class golf courses, an international tennis center, several fine dining restaurants, and specialty shops and boutiques (www.wyndhamriomar.com).

Puerto Rico is part of the Greater Antilles surrounded by the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean and is located 1000 miles southeast of Miami, Florida. Historic Old San Juan, El Yunque Rain Forest, the spectacular Rio Camuy Caves, the Arecibo Observatory, bio-luminescent bays, and the city of Ponce are among some of the attractions in Puerto Rico. The core of Ponce, dating back to the 17th century, has been declared a national treasure with its plazas, churches, colonial homes and fountains. The Culebra (beautiful beaches) and Vieques (bio-luminescent bay) islands lie adjacent to the eastern end of Puerto Rico accessible by ferries. For more information, see www.meetpuertorico.com and http://puertorico-guide.info.

The climate on the island of Puerto Rico in December is mostly sunny with modest rainfall. The temperatures typically range from 75? F (evening) to 83? F (daytime). Hurricane season typically ends in November. Dress for the Workshop is resort casual.

Puerto Rico is a self governing commonwealth under the jurisdiction of the United States. Languages spoken are Spanish and English. The currency is the U.S. dollar. Electricity is the US standard 120 volt / 60 Hz.

Planning Before and After the Workshop

The $179.00 per room night Wyndham resort group rate will apply three days prior to and after the room block or December 5 through December 18. Those attending the Workshop may wish to take advantage of the extra days to explore other regions of Puerto Rico, which require more time to reach such as the Camuy Caves, City of Ponce, the Arecibo radio telescope, or adjacent islands. The bio-luminescent bays should be experienced in the evenings. These pre-post Workshop room rates will depend on availability so we recommend making reservations before the November 7, 2007 cut-off date.
